Traffic Woes can be avoided

I first thought Cuming Street was only a way to get to and from McDonald’s on a late night, but the construction blocking Cuming from 24th to 27th streets has made life a pain for people commuting to campus.

Toni Pasley form Human Recourses said in an email today, “The campus has experienced traffic flow issues along Burt Street, particularly in the area of 30th Street. Public safety has been monitoring traffic during peak times and Facilities Management has been working with the city to identify steps that might help relieve the busy intersection.”

She recommends:

  1. Avoid making left hand turns into the Burt Street parking lot. Approach campus using 24th Street from the north or south instead of 30th Street.
  2. Exit the interstate at Hamilton Street and connect with 24th Street to reach campus or use the 24th Street or Capitol Avenue exits and approach campus from the south on 24th or 19th Streets.
  3. Consider earlier or later times to arrive or depart from campus.

Construction is due to be completed in November and Public Safety will offer more tips as the construction progresses. Drive safe!
