Women’s soccer shuts down Indiana State 1-0

Sophomore defender Kelly Connolly netted the game’s only goal in the 67th minute to lead the Bluejays to victory in the team’s Missouri Valley Conference opener against the Indiana State Sycamores Friday night at Morrison Stadium.

Creighton (8-2-1, 1-0-0 MVC) controlled the game, outshooting the Sycamores 26-5.

The goal was Connolly’s second of the season as well as her second game winner this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alicia Montgomery made two saves and posted her seventh shutout of the year.

The game marked the eighth team shutout of the season for Creighton, needing only three more to tie the program’s single season record of 11 set in 1990.

Creighton is on the road Sunday when they face Northern Colorado in a non-conference matchup.
