Nathan’s favorite albums of the decade

As digital singles become more prevalent and artists such as Radiohead and Lady Gaga turn to releasing shorter EPs, the age of the album may be coming to an end. The Scene staff looks back on their personal 20 favorite discs of the 2000s.

This list spans my different music phases from my obsession with pop-punk in junior high to my indie-rock high school years to my more recent acceptance of hip-hop and electro. M.I.A.’s sophomore album was ridiculously catchy. My No. 2 by Rilo Kiley was recorded a couple blocks from campus at Saddle Creek’s old studios. And Bloc Party created a cacophony of perfection with its guitar layered debut. Some notable that should have made the list are on Maureen’s: “Hot Fuss” and “Parachutes.”
