In February, we take time to look back on the history of African Americans. Creighton will be celebrating this year with food, speakers, and by getting involved in the community. First of all, tonight at 4:00 to 6:30, Dr. Joe White is speaking in room 3028A in the Harper Center. He is the author of several books and will be giving a speech entitled: “Surviving and Thriving: Major Psychological Strengths in the AfricanAmerican Way of Being.” He will be answering questions after, until 6:30. Another event Creighton is hosting is the Soul Food dinner sponsored by CU African American Students Association on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for students and there will be great food, poetry, and theatre. Finally, the NAACP is inviting students to participate in a letter writing campaign for a couple of pieces of legislature coming out including children sentenced to life with out parole ect. on Monday. So, get involved in Black History Month and make a difference and enjoy some sould food while you’re at it!
