Women’s basketball vs Iowa preview

The Creighton Women’s Basketball team enjoys an outright second place spot in the Missouri Valley conference after a 77-57 victory over Drake Friday.

Beginning the game with a 15-6 run, Creighton didn’t look back continuing to hold the lead the entire game.

Bluejay standout Megan Neuvirth had 19 points, six rebounds, four steals, three blocks and three assists in the match.

Iowa native Ally Jensen scored a career high 13 points in the victory while she and junior forward Sam Schuett both hit 2-of-3 from three-point range.

With other key contributors in Kelsey Crites (6 rebounds) and Kellie Nelson (11 points, 6 rebounds), the Jays secured the first sweep over the Bulldogs since the 2002-03 season.

Kayla Person and Monique’ Jones both put up 13 points for the Bulldogs, while Drake’s leading scorer was held to just two points.

As the regular season winds down, Creighton will host its last two games. The first is scheduled for Thursday with a 7:05 tip off at D.J. Sokol Arena.
