CU shuttle extends its weekend hours, stops

It’s a Saturday night and you have nothing to do. If you had a car, you could go to the Old Market. Thanks to the Creighton Students’ Union, however, there will now be a shuttle traveling to Omaha’s Entertainment District on Saturday nights.

The shuttle began service on April 2 and will be running every other Saturday through May 1. It will pick up students at Deglman Circle beginning at 9 p.m., with a final drop-off time at 1:30 a.m.

The shuttle will give both students who don’t have cars and those worried about losing their parking spaces on campus the opportunity to have a night out downtown.

CSU representatives had no problem implementing the new shuttle at Creighton.

“Last semester’s CSU representatives laid the groundwork down for us and came up with the basics for it,” said Arts & Sciences sophomore Zach Fuller, a CSU representative. “We used the hard work last year’s representatives did to make a full-time downtown shuttle possible.

“We knew Friday and Saturday nights would be the most popular, and after talking with several students believed that most would use it from 9 to 1:30,” Fuller said. “We tried to make the shuttle available during the most popular times to allow for the greatest number of students to take advantage of it.”

“I’m really glad we finally have a shuttle on campus to take us to the Old Market,” said Arts & Sciences freshman Mike Farley. “It’s way better than having to walk there at night.”

Although many students are excited about the new shuttle, some students feel the times are a bit inconvenient.

“I wish it started picking kids up earlier,” said Arts & Sciences freshman Andi Hinnenkamp. “9 p.m. is a little late to get dinner.”

Even if the times are a little late for some, the shuttle will give student another way downtown on weekends.
