Arts & Sciences junior Matthew Gillespie won the CSU presidential election by a mere 12-vote margin Tuesday. It is the closest race in the last ten years.
βIt was terrifying, but incredibly humbling,β Gillespie said. βI am excited to get started.β
Gillespie plans to incorporate student organizations who are often unrepresented, such as Greek life and residence halls, within the CSU Board of Representatives in order to directly represent student interests. Other goals are to give commuters additional parking options closer to academic buildings during the weekdays.
β[Gillespie] really impressed me by specifically reaching out to several organizations in which I was involved, and presenting not only specific plans, but how those changes would benefit me as a student.β Arts & Sciences junior Westing Miller said, who voted for Matthew Gillespie in Tuesdayβs elections.
