University has been getting a lot of press lately. No, itβs not because the annual βU.S. News & World Reportβ magazine ranked Creighton the No. 1 Midwest University for the 10th year in a row, even though that is a tremendous achievement. Rather, it is because of two New York based television personalities.
Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, who host the fourth hour of NBCβs βThe Today Show,β are hosting a competition to find the most spirited school in the nation. The Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda will broadcast live from the winning campus
the week of Oct. 1.
Currently, the top six schools have been announced and are eligible for public voting. The other universities are: Syracuse University, Ohio State University, University of Tennessee, University of South Florida and Brandeis University.
Much of the credit for gaining an initial interest can be given to the women
of Pi Beta Phi sorority. They taped a video and submitted it to the contestβs twitter account. The video was played on-air and set off a frenzy on campus. Students took to Twitter to promote Creighton as the ideal hosting site.
All of the attention hasnβt gone unnoticed, even at the administrative level. Official campus social media feeds have been spreading word of the contest, and Fr. Lannon, S.J., president of the university, sent out a personalized message via email on Tuesday.
Voting continues through Sept. 23 and can be done by going to today.msnbc.msn.com and selecting the KLG&H tab.
