While the majority of students on Creightonβs campus often go to big dinning halls such as Brandeis or Skutt, great places such as Davis Diner are sometimes overlooked.
Davis Dinner goes unnoticed by some students as a dining option as it seems to be further off the beaten path. In the cold months, the diner might be a bit of a longer walk for students that live in freshman dorms, but the variation in food from the dining halls such as Brandeis and Becker might make the trip worthwhile.
Visiting the diner, there are a number of students eating there, coming in groups ranging from two to several people at a time. The diner is connected to Davis Hall and is open open from 4:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday. They also have late night meal exchange Monday to Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.
So what does Davis have to offer for food? For those breakfast fans, Davis Diner offers breakfast foods including eggs, pancakes, French toast, skillets and more. There are a variety of sandwiches to choose from as well as wraps. Unique items offered by Davis are malts and shakes with flavors including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pineapple and cookies an cream.
βThe cookies are huge and delicious, and I like that not a lot of people go thereβΒ Arts & Sciences junior Megan Waletzko said.
The venue does not seat large numbers, and crowds on a regular night are smaller and flowing, but this creates a unique experience in comparison to other dining halls.
βItβs a cute environment to get food at night,” Arts & Sciences sophomore Olivia Lickteig said. “Places like Skutt are so big and loud, so the diner gives a more relaxed eating environment. There is a good variety and the breakfast food is something unique it offers.β
According to Arts & Sciences sophomore Joe Lesnak, if students are looking for a change to the more common dining experience and want to add variety, Davis Diner is a great idea.
βI donβt go there very often, but when I do I find the environment very comforting and I love the malts,” Lesnak said. “The fact that you can get breakfast food at night is awesome too.β
Overall, most students had only good things to say about Davis Diner, and are encouraging students to try it. Be sure to check out the photo album of students and faculty that eat at the dinner when you arrive. The walk will be worth the experience, so grab a friend and enjoy and atmosphere and food on campus that only Davis Diner can give.
