“Endless Love” not typical love story

Valentine’s Day weekend was a big weekend for movie releases. One that caught audiences’ attentions was β€œEndless Love.” It was a perfect fit for the special occasion.

β€œEndless Love” is a romantic drama. It is the story of a girl, Jade, who just graduated high school and comes from a wealthy family. Her brother passed away a couple of years before and ever since she has secluded herself from the world. She would only spend her weekends studying or spending time with her family.

On the day of high school graduation, David, who had been interested in her ever since the day he saw her, finally approached her. The movie develops as Jade and David try to be together, but Jade’s family, specifically her dad, tries to keep them apart because of their differences in social economic ranks.

Like every other romantic drama out there, spectators go into the movie thinking they know exactly what is going to happen. This is not at all the case with β€œEndless Love.” Yes, it is a boy-meets-girl-but-life-gets-in-the-way kind of movie, but it is filled with unexpected twists throughout the story that keep the audience members on their toes.

β€œEndless Love” seems like a modern version of β€œThe Notebook.” The catch about β€œEndless Love” is that there is always something happening that is completely unexpected and surprising. A series of events keeps the audience curious as can be.

The actors chosen for this film could have not been better. All of them created a perfect balance for the movie and you could easily identify with and relate to them.

β€œI loved it,” said Nursing sophomore Natasha Ogata. β€œI thought it was so romantic. All the characters were casted perfectly for this movie.”

According to RottenTomatoes.com, β€œEndless Love” got a score of a 16 percent in ratings, but it says the audience gave it a 67 percent. They rate β€œThe Notebook” with only a 52 percent.

Yes, it is a chick-flick, but I would definitely recommend watching it anyway. A little break to de-stress before midterms week with friends or your significant other is never a bad idea.
