Christina Perri pokes at heart-strings in new album

Who?: Christina Perri just dropped her album “Head or Heart” on March 28, marking her second in her four-year music career. You may know her from her popular song “Jar of Hearts.”

iTunes reviews gave it: ✮✮✮✮½

Opinion: The album has a calm, motivational feeling to it. Most of the background music is very simple, either guitar or piano centrally, with a focus on Perri’s unique vocals. The most popular songs off the album so far are “Human” and “I Believe,” but her track list also features the duet “Be My Forever” with the vocals of Ed Sheeran. So far, since the album has been released on Spotify, Creighton students have tuned in to listen.

“I like her style of music,” Arts & Sciences sophomore Hannah Wulbert said. “It has a clearer sound than a lot of the more popular music out there. I also think her lyrics can be thought-provoking.”

What’s next?: While the nearest stop on Perri’s tour will be in Lawrence, KS on May 10 (if you’re willing to make the drive), you can follow her for more updates on Twitter at @christinaperri.
