βThe Grand Budapest Hotelβ is a magnificent story filled with poetry, humor and mystery.
βThe Grand Budapest Hotelβ is a movie about the history and present life of a hotel. It focuses on the life of the hotel when it was at its best, always full of guests.
The movie also tells the story of the owner, Mr. Gustave, and how he came to be the owner of the hotel.
βThe Grand Budapest Hotelβ is a drama with a hint of dry comedy. It also has a mystery involved because the characters are trying to solve a crime. The movie had the right amount of mystery and comedy to keep the audience entertained.
Even though the characters do solve the crime, the movie leaves you wanting more information on the background of the characters. It almost feels like not enough information is given about Gustave. The audience only gets to see the part of his life after he was already the owner of the hotel and how he died. More details on how he got to be so successful would have been interesting to see.
Since the movie was filmed in flashbacks, whenever it went back in time, the film on the screen turned square like screens were in that time.
The movie had a lot of stills, and they were breathtaking. Not a shot was worthless or unnecessary in the movie. The script includes a lot of poetry as well.
βThe movie was hilarious in a quirky and unexpected way,β Nursing sophomore Sam Staver said. βYou canβt help but fall in love with the characters, since they are all so unique. The scenery in every shot was beautiful as well.β
β [The movie was] a truly contemporary masterpiece,βArts & Sciences freshman Sebastian Rodriguez said. βAnderson β the director β is a creative genius and developed a polished and foolish narrative.β
A lot of familiar faces appeared in the movie. Jude Law, Owen Wilson, Ralph Fiennes and F. Murray Abraham were some of the actors in βThe Grand Budapest Hotel.β The actors did a really good job with the characters they were portraying. Β
The movie is currently showing in Film Streams, 14th and Mike Fahey St, until tonight. Every first Monday of the month is free for full-time students.Β
