CSU public forum introduces new legislation, events

The Creighton Students Union had a public forum Monday in the Hixson-Lied building to discuss their events coming up on campus and plans of action for legislation.

Maddie Tagaloa, CSU Executive vice president and College of Arts and Sciences sophomore, began the meeting informing each CSU committee that the committees will each have to draft two pieces of legislation within the upcoming weeks.

Sarah Giacomini, CSU vice president of programming, said CSU hoped to announce who would be performing at the annual Fallapalooza concert this Thursday, in addition to making free tickets available to students.

Other events such as culinary tours and the β€œWhat in the World” event discussing civil discourse and civil duty were discussed.

Within the committees, members of the CSU brought forward ideas for new pieces of legislation. Β A few involved increasing sustainability, specifically using reusable silverware for events to replace plastic.

The marketing committee also suggested expanding their social media presence to increase reach.

Tagaloa also stated that, as a member of the Police Advisory Committee in Omaha, which involves Gifford Park, they are having an upcoming fundraiser between the CSU and the Student Leadership Involvement Center. Β

β€œWe are trying to bring candy to underprivileged kids within the area,” Tagaloa said.
