This Thursday marked the first in-person Skutt Shutdown attended by Creighton students in two years. 

Creighton students wandered through Skutt and up on the mall as clubs and student organizations from all around campus set up tables advertising their groups. 

“You get to meet a lot of different people through a bunch of different interests you have,” Madhu Mohanraj, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, said with regard to the importance of attending Skutt Shutdown. 

Since the genesis of COVID-19, fewer opportunities have been available for students to engage in activities on campus. In the fall of 2020, Skutt Shutdown was held virtually, differing greatly from the carnival-like in-person event this past week. 

“It is a great way for all of the underclassmen and everyone to get introduced to all the great clubs and organizations,” Susan Christensen, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, said. 

Skutt Shutdown seemed novel to numerous students, as many had not been able to participate in an in-person version of it until this year. As always, Skutt Shutdown provided students with countless opportunities to get involved on campus.
