Kappa Kappa Gamma fundraises by selling cupcakes on Skutt stairs

Hoping to raise money for their philanthropic partner, Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority hosted a cupcake fundraiser in Skutt Student Center and Harper Business Center.Β 

Kappa Kappa Gamma’s goal with this fundraiser was to support mental health and well-being. This event has been a tradition for the sorority for several years now.Β 

Kyla DeLuca, a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences serves as Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Philanthropy Chair.Β 

β€œThis year was the most successful year in our history,” DeLuca said.Β 

This fundraiser lasted from March 28 to April 1 and raised over $7,000. That adds up to over 700 cupcakes and boxes sold this year which doubles sales of previous years.Β 

Cupcake sales have now closed and the cupcakes will be delivered to customers the week before Easter Sunday.Β 

The proceeds of this fundraiser went to One World Community Health Center.Β 

β€œOverall, I am very happy with how the campus came together to support mental health and well-being. I love being able to put on a fundraiser for all of campus to take part in,” DeLuca said.Β 

The fundraising tables was found at the base of the Skutt staircase and in the main lobby of the Harper Center’s atrium. Students gathered around the table to investigate the array of cupcake flavors and purchase their favorites.Β 

β€œIt was a really tough decision to pick which flavor I wanted, I ended up going with red velvet because I’m just always in the mood for it,” Kate Youngers, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, said.Β 

One World’s mission is to provide holistic healthcare to the Omaha community regardless of people’s financial statuses, city statuses, etc.Β 

OneWorld also works to provide education to marginalized communities.Β 

Kappa Kappa Gamma’s mission is to β€œunite women to learn, grow, and inspire positive change throughout their lives” 

Creighton’s specific chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Eta Iota, has been involved with the university since April 2005.Β 

The Eta Iota chapter supports three different philanthropies. All of which revolve around mental health and wellbeing, including the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, JED Foundation, and The National Alliance of Mental Illness.Β 

Eta Iota also does service on a weekly basis in the Omaha Community with multiple organizations, including One World Health.
