Jonas brothers concert at CHI Health Center

Nick Jonas joined his brothers to spend his birthday in Omaha at the 19th stop of the Jonas Brothers’ creatively named β€œThe Tour – Five Albums One Night” tour.

CHI Health Center filled up quickly while waiting for the brothers to come on stage. That said, the crowd seemed thoroughly distracted when a special guest was escorted to the front of the piano stage.

β€œMy favorite part of the night was Priyanka Chopra coming onto the floor just before the Jonas Brothers started their show,” Emma Reed, senior in the College of Arts and Sciences. β€œEveryone in the audience was freaking out.”

The show started on time, with all three brothers slowly rising from a foggy stage floor. The brothers were accompanied by a fairly large ensemble with about a dozen people on stage at any given time.

The crowd witnessed a proposal, a dedicated song to a young fan remembering her father, and a kiss cam operated by none other than Joe Jonas himself.

Around that point in the night, Joe Jonas grabbed the microphone, taunting, β€œIt’s a special day…”

Nick Jonas then appeared to be surprised on stage while his family brought out a birthday cake, and the crowd sang in celebration.

β€œWe all sang happy birthday to Nick Jonas,” Maddy Janeczko, a senior in the Heider College of Business, said. β€œI knew that it was his birthday, but I didn’t expect anything to happen like that! I loved how they brought out a huge birthday cake for him as well.”

Throughout the night, the re-formed boy band sang 60 songs throughout five of their albums and narrated the experience, mentioning their Disney days, the time they got dropped by their label, and the choice they made to go back on tour together after five years apart.

β€œThey sang so many songs from all of their albums – it was like the boy band version of the Taylor Swift concert,” Janeczko said. β€œMy favorite part was when they started singing a song from Camp Rock. That was one of my favorite movies when I was younger, so hearing them sing it in person was amazing.”

Janeczko bought the tickets as a birthday gift for her roommate Danielle, a second-year pharmacy student so that they could experience the concert together.

β€œI have been a Jonas Brothers fan since I was a child and would watch their music videos on Disney Channel, and I had never seen them before,” Roepke said. The experience was made even more exciting after the show when β€œI posted on my Instagram story, and it got reposted by the Jonas Brothers […],” Roepke said.

The pair got their tickets in May and waited all summer for the show.

Roepke added, β€œI would definitely recommend anyone who was a Jonas brother fan either just recently or since their early days go see the show because they put on an excellent performance.”
