With arcade games, yard games and ping-pong tables set up on the KFC courts, the CSU Program Board hosted an arcade night last Saturday night.Β
At the event, there were yard games such as corn hole and spike-ball, as well as vintage arcade games and ping-pong. Students were free to roam around the court and play the games provided with other students who decided to attend the event.Β
βI live on campus and was searching for what was going on today,β said Johannes Kellner, a graduate student in the Heider College of Business. βSince I live on campus, it was easy to come to this.βΒ
The CSU hosts programs like this arcade night in order to provide students with the opportunity to get out and engage with other students. Their goal, as stated on their website, is to encourage the productivity and engagement of students through the events that they host on campus.Β
βI think itβs a nice opportunity to have something fun to do on campus. which is nice if people donβt have cars or donβt want to leave campus, and itβs a great way to meet friends,β Annelyn Caldwell, a freshman in the Heider College of Business, said.Β
The KFC, where the event was hosted, is really convenient for students who live on campus to get out and spend time with their peers on the weekend. All students had to do to get into the event was to swipe their student ID.Β
When asked about the main goal of having an event like this, Senior Week Coordinator Nia Bassett said it was, βto get people out of their rooms. Some people are introverts and arenβt party people and who donβt like going out have an outlet on campus and can come to play video games with their friends and donβt have to be at a campus-sponsored event.βΒ
With events like these on campus, students are encouraged to get out and meet their peers. The CSU Program Board has made events like these accessible to students who do not have cars or do not live on campus.
