Soccer: Jays defeat Connecticut in overtime

The seventh-seeded Bluejays defeated unseeded Connecticut 2-1 in overtime, advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

The Jays were able to score the equalizer in the 79th minute. Junior Chris Schuler headed the ball past Connecticut’s Josh Ford off a header from freshman Ethan Finlay. They Jays scored their second goal in the first overtime. Senior Seth Sinovic headed the ball to the back of the net off a free kick by senior Andrei Gotsmanov.

The Jays will take on second-seeded Maryland next Saturday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Kickoff will be at noon.
