A Goodnight is only a slice of pizza away

Most college students don’t look forward to Monday nights. Last Monday, however, I had an exceptionally good night at Goodnights Pizza in downtown Omaha, where their motto is, “A night is a terrible thing to waste.”

Goodnights Pizza Bar & Patio, a new restaurant located on 13th and Mike Fahey streets, opened earlier this year in downtown Omaha. While the restaurant is not yet a “go-to” spot for Creighton students, it’s only a matter of time before they discover the unique experience that Goodnights has to offer.

“It’s a great new place in a convenient area for students,” said Wesley Pourier, Arts & Sciences senior. “It’s close to campus and near the Slowdown and Qwest with affordable food and drink. Anyone who goes is not going to find another pizza experience like this.”

I had to agree with Pourier after experiencing Goodnights for myself. I was very impressed with the atmosphere of the restaurant when my friend and I first walked in. In one part of the restaurant, Goodnights offers family-friendly dining with a large, open dining room and windows with a great view of downtown Omaha. The other part of the restaurant has a sports bar atmosphere with a full bar, dining area and mounted TVs showing clips from sporting events. And, most importantly, the staff was friendly and greeted us warmly as soon as we entered the building.

When we sat down and began looking over the menu, we were surprised by the different and unique choices. Along with the usual cheese, sausage and veggie pizzas, one can find combinations like Chicken Spin Art, Thai Chicken and Bayou Blast (all of which we personally sampled). Pizzas come baked on either original crust or the store’s custom crust, which is made with parmesan, basil and romano.

“The pizza choices were unique and had a huge variety,” my friend said. “The prices were reasonable and the pizzas turned out to be delicious. Especially the special crust; that was fantastic.”

As far as food goes, Goodnights sells pizzas in 14-inch and 18-inch pies. The smaller sizes range from $14-$16, while the 18-inch size runs about $19-$21. They also sell pizza by the slice for about $4-$6 dollars each. Each slice took up an entire plate and was more than enough to satisfy our hunger. Overall, considering the quality of the pizza and the wonderful atmosphere, Goodnights offers very affordable food for a college student’s budget. They even offer student deals on game nights.

If you’re looking to spice up an ordinary school night, head on over to Goodnights Pizza Bar & Patio. They have great food and a fun atmosphere. And even though they don’t have a dessert menu just yet, you are sure to find your hunger satisfied after a delicious slice of their original pizza.
