With Iran’s 31st Anniversary of its 1979 Revolution around the corner, many powers, including the United States are questioning the intentions and capacity of Iran’s nuclear program. It launched an improved version of one of its rockets back in December, and on Wednesday it claimed to have launched a rocket containing a rat, two turtles, and worms. A U.N.- initiated accord attempted to reign in Iran’s nuclear potential by allowing them to export some of their fuel. However, Iran has not accepted the deal, and many countries are skeptical of whether Ahmadinejad will cooperate, especially after the suspicious outcome of the June elections. Iran is arguably the most politically consolidated countries in the region, which could only complicate further negotiations. Then again, Iran has been a lot of talk and little action, so only time will tell whether the country will be a major source of concern in the future.
