Bracketbuster preview

Megan Reynolds

The annual BracketBuster game gives teams in the middle of the national pack a chance to one up the others. These games give programs a chance to go outside of conference play late in the season which is an additional factor when the NCAA representatives decide who is in and who’s not at the beginning of the post season.

The Ramblers of Loyola Chicago will visit the Creighton Bluejays Saturday night to give each team another match-up on their schedule.

Loyola Chicago, of the Horizon League, is 14-12 on the season and 5-11 in conference play, placing them at number eight in the conference. Additionally, Loyola is 5-8 in true road games and has played only one game in front of more than 10,000 people.

Three Rambler players average in double figures and will likely be making the most noise on the court. These men are lead by Terrance Hill with 11.7 points per game. The team as a whole averages 65.0 ppg and allows 65.7 points per contest on average.

The Bluejays are currently tied for fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference sitting at 8-8 in the league and 13-14 overall.

Creighton is lead by Kenny Lawson Jr. at 12.6 ppg., 6.4 rebounds per game and 1.4 blocks per game, all team bests.

The Jays can also depend on contributions from Justin Carter (9.3 ppg., 5.8 rpg.) and Darryl Ashford (8.0 ppg.), as well as a 26.5 point per game average from the bench.

The two programs have met six times in Omaha, putting the record at 4-2 in favor of the Ramblers, however the last two games went to the Bluejays.

Creighton and Loyola Chicago face of Saturday at Qwest Center Omaha. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:35 and doors open at 7:30. The match will be broadcasted on KXSP (“Big Sports 590 AM”).
