Men’s golf ninth at Big East championships

Men’s golf wrapped up its season in Okatie, South Carolina, finishing ninth at the Big East championships. 

Georgetown claimed the title and the automatic NCAA bid after shooting an even par as a team. The team was led by three members who shot in the top five of the field and won by 27 strokes. Xavier finished as the runner-up, shooting 891.

Creighton’s top performer during the tournament was all-Big East second team golfer Kade Brown. Brown led the Jays shooting an 11-over par. Kade’s 227 was good for tying for 20th in the field. Brown was the only member of the team in the top 20 and will return next season for the Jays.

The Bluejays team would shoot a combined 946. Steffan Lake shot a three-round 258, good for 44th place. Sophomore Trey Petitt shot a 245, finishing in 41st place. Junior Andrew Holloway finished with a 239, good for 38th, while senior Tommy Anderson shot a 238 to finish in 36th place.

After the tournament concluded, the Jays would say their goodbyes to the team’s only two seniors, Tommy Anderson and Steffan Lake.
