Candidates for CSU Vice President for Student Affairs
Patrick Lam, Freshman, Health Administration and Policy
Hi, my name is Patrick Lam and I am a current freshman at Creighton. In high school, I have held the Vice-President position for two years in the Student Development Association, a service organization that collaborates with other organizations on campus to promote service and a better environment. Some of the responsibilities as Vice-President that I have been given are providing updates on how events preceded, helped the treasurer manage the financial budget of the organization, worked with all of the members individually, and communicating with faculty, including the principal with proposals for improving the campus. I have also held a Secretary position for one year, where I held the responsibilities of keeping track of each member’s hours of volunteering, the minutes of meetings, and how long community services lasted till. If elected, I hope to improve CSU by expanding its communication beyond current students, so to incoming students as well, so they would be able to gain an early involvement into Creighton affairs. Form stronger interaction with other organizations as students from other organization would have an interest in being part of the Creighton community as well. My goal is to make CSU a more accessible and opened organization.
Candidates for CSU Representative for College of Arts & Sciences
Will Farrell, Sophomore, Political Science
I am very passionate about student government, and I firmly believe that, through CSU, real and positive changes can be made to the Creighton community. I will bring to the table an open-mindedness and fresh new ideas.
Melissa Hottovy, Junior, Exercise Science
On Tuesday, November 3rd, don’t forget to vote Melissa Hottovy for your CSU Arts and Sciences Representative. In terms of leadership experience, I currently serve on a CSU All-U committee and hold the position of web designer for the Exercise Science Club, and in the past I served as a Gallagher Hall floor representative. If elected, I will be the voice for those I represent. I see big opportunities for CSU and I will make the necessary changes to capitalize on them.
Doug Malchow, Sophomore, Communications
Hey everyone! I’m running for one of the Creighton Student’s Union Representative positions. I have been involved on campus through volunteering with the CCSJ weekly, being a Summer Preview Guide, Welcome Week Beadle, member of the International Relations Club and most recently, a newly appointed member of the Arts and Sciences Student Senate. In high school I ran and was elected as the Nebraska Future Business Leaders of America State Reporter and helped lead a delegation of 5,000 plus members throughout the state. As a representative, I plan on listening to the issues Creighton students have and, if elected, will plan on making these issues heard to help better the Creighton Community. If elected, I would be new to the position and would rely on you, Creighton Students, to help voice your opinions to make Creighton an even better place for you to learn and grow. Have a great day! And remember, vote DOUG MALCHOW for Arts and Sciences CSU Representative!
Rob Placek, Sophomore, International Relations
Give Rob the Job! I am a very proud Creighton student, showing off our university from national television on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? to being a CU STAR. I am a very involved student active in both the Honors and Cortina Communities. From Greek life to religious organizations, I have dedicated myself to activities that are important to me in order to help improve myself and for me to help strengthen those organizations. I want to have that experience in CSU. CSU has the ability to affect all of us. I feel that I have a broad base of interactions and contacts in all parts of the university and from these people I will be able to derive popular opinion to bring it to the CSU table. I think I will be able to contribute a lot of CSU and that is my FINAL ANSWER.
Jimmy Tran, Freshman, Environmental Science
My name is Jimmy Tran and I’m here to represent you, my fellow students. There are many unheard voices on this campus that carry concerns which should be addressed by the Creighton Student Union. You, as a Creighton student, should get your money’s worth and as such you deserve to be informed of the steps that your student government is taking to resolve any campus issues. I am here asking to be your liaison between the student body and the student government. I would like to cooperate with the other representatives and draft legislation that would solve issues such as efficient campus sustainability, transportation and technology on campus. I believe I have the experiences to carry your voice to where it should be heard. I have been exposed to mock governments in order to learn effective strategies in lawmaking, and I have worked with my high school’s student government to help make my school a better place for everyone. Please help me transcend the problem by making the choice to let your voice be heard!
Corbin Weaver, Freshman, Undecided/Pre-Med
My name is Corbin Weaver and I am running for a Representative position in the College of Arts and Sciences and I would love to have your vote. Throughout high school I served in various different leadership positions, but most recently in my senior year I was the Vice-President of my class and the President of the National Honor Society. My decision to attend Creighton was largely because of the close community here, one that I am proud to be a part of and would love to represent. If elected as your CSU representative, my goal is to make sure that every student’s thoughts and concerns about Creighton are heard. I believe that loyalty is a virtue, and as a CSU Representative I will be loyal to you, the student body. While I won’t make lofty promises about specific measures I plan to take, I do promise to always be in your corner. If someone approaches me with a concern, I will make sure their voice is heard, and I will never be shy when standing up for your best interests. If you have any question for me, look me up on facebook, e-mail me, or stop by Swanson 911.
Peter Woolman, Junior, Biology

Chevy Anderson, Freshman
Hello fellow Creightonians, my name is Chevy Anderson and I would be thrilled to represent YOU as a College of Business Representative. As a DECA State Officer last year, I represented over 3,000 students across the state of Nebraska. This experience was eye opening because it taught me what it really takes to be an exceptional leader. Good leaders are in tune with whom they serve and are willing to go outside of their comfort zone to get the job done. Leaders are also humble and hardworking, putting the needs of those they serve before their own. These are qualities that I am proud to possess and I am looking forward to bringing all that I have to offer to the table. So on November 3rd don’t forget to VOTE for CHEVY because I’ve got CSU! Thank you all for your support!
Mike Kinyoun, Sophomore, Undecided
The name’s Mike and I would appreciate your vote… I hate to bore everyone with a long list of credentials, so I’ll only highlight a few. Pi Kappa Alpha – standards board, fundraising committee, Beta Mu’s treasurer. High school – junior class treasurer, senior class vice-president, FFA president… I’m looking forward to serve and listen to any concerns you may have. Thank you for your time and consideration.Ben McAnany, Sophomore, AccountingCSU strives to connect the university and all of its extracurricular activities under one central organization. Many students complain about dining hall hours, tobacco issues and rules within the student halls. As a representative, I will voice these concerns. Anytime throughout the school year, YOU can talk to me about anything Creighton related and I will make note of it at the next meeting. As a member of the Creighton University Business Administration Congress, I also have a say in direct issues in the College of Business. Feel free to contact me at anytime about any issue or idea which you hope can make a difference. I thank you for considering me as a representative and hope to continue changing OUR University for the better.
