Lavinia Dock: Public Health Nurse and Suffragist
I will present a one-woman drama of Miss Lavinia Dock – public health nurse, nurse leader/writer/historian, social activist, labor organizer, suffragist, and peace activist. She was one of the important nurse and societal leaders at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Her activism is recognized by many sectors of society – nursing, labor, and those interested in women attaining suffrage. I tell her story, her activities, and the intersection of much of her activism based on her public health nursing knowledge. Informing others of the world Lavinia Dock knew and experienced through her public health nursing at the Henry Street Settlement and on home visits is a way of raising others’ awareness of social justice issues. Lavinia Dock’s life and work will be integrated with works from the Joslyn Art Museum.

Tornado Preparedness Drill
The University will hold a tornado drill in conjunction with Douglas County.
On Wednesday, March 24 at 10:10 a.m., Douglas County sirens will sound across the city and a test CUAlert will be issued to communicate a tornado warning situation. Students, faculty and staff will be asked to take appropriate action, including going to the nearest shelter area. We anticipate the entire exercise will last about 10 minutes. The hospital, medical and dental clinics will not participate in the test as they already have their own emergency drills in place.
Creighton community members are reminded to sign up for CUAlert, our emergency notification system, at http://www2.creighton.edu/cualert/.
