The Creighton women’s Golf team was finished in sixth place at the Big East championships in South Carolina on Sunday.

The Jays shot a 995 over the three day tournament.

Seton Hall won the championships for the third year in a row. They shot a 935 over the three days, good enough to win the automatic bid to the NCAA championship with the conference championship win. Georgetown was close behind, shooting a 947.

The Jays were led on the course by all Big East second team selection Kelsey Petersen and Freshman Caroline Lake. They both tied for 17th in the field, while shooting a 247.

Sophomore Sarah Eversman and senior Grace Yowell tied for 24th. While Freshman Kelsey Johnson placed 23rd.

Yowell would finish her 106th and final round on Sunday. Yowell is currently Creighton’s women’s golf program leader in rounds played since 2004.

Petersen averaged a 78.9 score, making that the best by any women’s golfer in more than 12 years.
