CSU Jaywalk fundraises for Omaha’s Jesuit Academy

Creighton Students Union hosted the annual Jaywalk/Run where students and families joined together to raise money benefitting Jesuit Academy as a part of family weekend.

This academy serves 73 students from grades 4-8 and works to help young boys develop leadership skills and academic values. The Jaywalk is an annual fundraising event located on Creighton’s campus, followed by a breakfast for participants to enjoy.Β

On the morning of the event, rain and poor weather pushed the event inside, cancelling the walking portion of the event. This did not diminish the spirit of the event, participants congregated in the Skutt Ballroom where they were still able to pick up a T-shirt and enjoy a pancake breakfast.Β

β€œUnfortunately with the Midwest weather we had to change they format of the event, but we are still grateful and fortunate to still have donations and support Jesuit Academy,” Leilani Hung, the Vice President of CSU, said. This was a testament to the excitement from participants wanting to help Jesuit Academy and their mission.Β

Several students from Jesuit Academy were able to attend the Jaywalk and meet players of the Men’s Soccer team. They were also able to accept the check of money raised for their school to allow them to keep promoting their mission and provide the best experience possible for students.Β

Jesuit Academy is one of the 18 Jesuit Nativity Schools in the United States and was founded in 1996 to help prepare young boys for a successful and virtuous life. The Catholic teachings of Jesuit work to promote commitment to justice and commitment to growth among its students.Β

Jesuit Academy also works to promote its graduates and stays in communication with them through high school and into college. This promotion of students is a testament to its Jesuit’s values and what is instilled in its students even from a young age.Β

Students at Jesuit Academy come from all faith backgrounds and are encouraged to love one another as well as care for one another. This value is widely promoted throughout the school.Β

This last minute weather change forced the event to be brought indoors, but Creighton was still able to raise $3,187 for Jesuit Academy.
