Job opportunities on display at Creighton career fair

Creighton hosted a career fair in which students were able to connect with different companies and organizations with the potential to provide internships, employment and more to students throughout the university.Β  Β

The fair was bustling with activity and students dressed to impress, ready to show off what it means to be a Bluejay. Β

β€œWe host this event twice a year to connect students with employment, internship and volunteer opportunities. Our goal is to help facilitate those connections, so we have employers who come from the Omaha metro and beyond looking to recruit Creighton students, so we are helping [students] to make those connections,” said Katie Wessel, the assistant director of advising for the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Nursing at the John P. Fahey Career Center.Β  Β

Around the fair, this was made clear as Creighton students and employers chatted and connections were formed. Β

β€œWe work to make sure we are getting a variety of recruiters in attendance so it’s not all corporate. We also have a variety of non-profits and government organizations, our service opportunities like Jesuit volunteer corps and graduate programs occasionally as well,” Wessel said. β€œNo matter what your goal is, we have opportunities here for you.”

When speaking with different employers it was clear that students at Creighton are very successful at achieving their goals, and go out into the world ready to make a difference.Β  β€œWhenever I’m at a career fair at Creighton, you can definitely see the difference in the caliber and the level and the preparedness Creighton students come to these things with, and we love the Creighton students that we are able to hire and bring on as team members. So, Creighton career fairs are ones we are always really excited for,” said Erin Pearson, the Strategic Talent Outreach Consultant at the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center-Omaha.

The career center will be hosting many other events like this for students to connect to prospective employers and to learn about applying to jobs and networking. For more information see the Creighton career center website.Β
