After a dominating performance in game one of the doubleΒheader, SDSU bounced back and crushed Creighton 10-Β0. The Bluejays threeΒ-game win streak ended via the mercy rule. The mercy rule states if you’re down eight runs after five innings, the game will be over.
The Bluejays were shut down by SDSU Pitcher Bryana Clark, where she held them to one hit and posted her second shut out of the season. Allie Reinhart, a junior catcher from Omaha, was the only Bluejay to earn a hit when she singled to center field in the fourth inning.
The Bluejays starting pitcher was Kelly Mardones, a freshman from Sanger, Texas. In the second, third and fourth innings Mardones allowed two home runs and a four more runs to give the Jays a 6Β-0 deficit. She was relieved by Jen Daro for the final three innings.
Although It was a tough second game for the Bluejays, they have confidence in the infield after turning two double plays in one game to go along with zero errors. It was only the seventh time in program history there has been a game with two double plays. It may give them momentum heading into their next contest.
