On Friday, Creighton students will gather in the Sokol Auditorium to attend a performance by 3OH!3, the annual Fallapalooza concert hosted by Creighton Students Unionβs Program Board.
Meradith Ganow, a first year Pharmacy student and vice president for programming for CSU, says that this yearβs Fallapallooza will be full of fun.
βFor Fallapalooza this year, students can expect a mix of old and new music with a lot of energy,β Ganow said. βFrom student DJs, to our opening band Purveyors of the Conscious Sound, to 3OH!3, it will be a great time. CSU Program Board will also be handing out small giveaways to everyone at the door.β
While Fallapallooza is an annual event put on by Program Board, this yearβs concert has been met with unprecedented energy.
βThis yearβs Fallapalooza is definitely a different type of music than weβve had in the past few years,β Ganow said. βWith the success of White Panda last year, we knew that students liked the more dance-type, upbeat music for our fall concert. This is also the first year we have ever been sold out of tickets within the first few days of sales. Hopefully everyone is just as excited for this concert as we are.β
Many students are looking forward to attending the event as a way to spend time with friends and take a break from the stress of midterms.
Keri Sullivan, an Arts & Sciences sophomore, says that she attended Fallapalooza last year but is even more excited for this yearβs performer, as she has been a fan of the band since middle school.
Fallapalooza serves as one of the first events Creighton freshmen can attend off campus with their new friends. Maria Nguyen, an Arts & Sciences freshman, says that she is looking forward to the event.
βIβm excited for good music and good company; what more can a college kid ask for?β Nguyen said. βIβm also excited for something different to do on a Friday night with my friends.”
The concert is also one of the first events that the new members of Program Boardβs Street Team will help to set up and promote. Arts & Sciences sophomore Elizabeth Walsh joined Street Team a few weeks ago and is excited to feel like a larger part of the Program Board Team.
βI have only been on Street Team for a few short weeks now so this is one of my first events. I am going to be helping to get the word out about the concert and will also help with setting up,β Walsh said. βI am really excited to have a good time with friends while watching 3OH!3 in person.β
Ganow says that CSU hosts Fallapalooza as a way to provide students with a break from the stress of school as well as to show gratitude for the support of students.
βA large part of CSU Program Boardβs mission statement is focused on providing recreational and social events for students to relax at,β Ganow said. βFallapalooza is great because it provides a fun environment to de-stress from mid-term studying and the stress of a new year. In addition to being a way to kick back before Fall Break, CSU Program Board also hosts Fallapalooza as a thank you to students for all of their support they show by attending our events.”
Students are reminded to arrive early as the venue is booked to capacity and a ticket does not guarantee entry. Shuttles will be available from 6:50 pm at the Gallagher Fountain and will run throughout the evening.
