This week, we at The Creightonian are pleased to announce the launch of our redesigned website. This is a turning point for us as a university publication; even though we have had a functioning website for some time now, the new website is unlike any we have had before.
As has been seen through our over 4,600 visits to our website last week, it is clear that we are in need of an update. Our website crashed after the influx of activity when readers went to look for a letter to the editor. We anticipate that our new website will help prevent the potential for overloading, so it could not be coming at a better time. We need to have a site that is prepared for immense amounts of activity, so we hope that the all-new creightonian.com can be that site. We also hope that with our redesigned website we keep some of you around who visited our site for the first time ever last week, as we always like new readers and new viewers of what we have to offer.
We have an online editor on staff who works to develop our website, and this semester has taken on the new task of working with a reputable company that provides website solutions for more than 1,500 news organizations across the United States and Canada. This company has been working with us this semester to take our website somewhere it has never been before.
There will be many things visitors will notice about this new and improved site, one of which being the overall look of it. The sleek, organized design makes our website easy to navigate as well as easy to see everything our website has to offer.
The new website has really fantastic features that cater to our users as well. In addition to the polls we have had available to the community in the past, we also now have full photo slideshows, videos, a live Twitter feed and more right at the fingertips of everyone who logs onto the site. These features are not just for us as a newspaper staff, but for all of you in the Creighton community. It is important to us to have these features readily available because the more you can do on the site, the more immersed in the information we have to offer you will be. We want the community to have every chance to see our stories, photographs, multi media and social media that we put out there, and this redesigned website makes that possible.
We hope you take some time to explore our site and see everything that we have to offer as the universityβs publication. Our hope as a staff is that everyone can easily know what is going on at Creighton, what is happening with all of their student groups, how our athletics are doing and so much more. We want to be a place where people go to find out information about Creighton. We are the universityβs news source, and this new
website allows us to be that on a new level.
In order to reach this goal, we need your help. We cannot be successful as a newspaper publication without the people reading and responding to the content we produce. So we encourage you to visit our website and let us know what you like about it and what you donβt. We want to know how we are doing, and we cannot guage that without input from the community that relies on us for Creighton news. We thank you in advance for taking the time to explore our website and see what we have been up to these last few semesters. This website is not just for us, it is for you, our readers, and was created with the goal and intention being to bring the news to you in the best way possible.
