Brunch in the Old Market

The Table has many breakfast options, including the waffle charcuterie board, where there is an array of toppings for the waffles on a photo-worthy platter, perfect for sharing with friends.

This past weekend, my friend officially completed her first marathon at the 2026 Omaha Marathon. One of the motivators fueling her drive to the finish line? Waffles.

But not just any waffles. The Table Coffee Co.’s Waffle Charcuterie Board.

This must-try menu item features the shop’s signature locally-sourced grain waffles, made with hearty oats and rich buttermilk, dusted with powdered sugar and served with your choice of delicious toppings, including fresh fruit, toasted pecans, chocolate chips and of course, real maple syrup.

For a runner facing 26.2 miles, it was a pretty good reason to keep pushing.

Located in Omaha’s Historic Old Market, The Table Coffee Co. opened its doors in May 2024 and is open Monday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Table offers more than just traditional coffee shop staples. Alongside its handcrafted specialty beverages, including unique signatures such as the Tiramisu Cold Brew, and satisfying food items, this locally owned business provides an inviting and welcoming atmosphere — a place for the community to gather around the table. Or, in this case, at The Table.

Walking into The Table, it is easy to understand how the space lives up to its name. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, making it a comfortable place to meet up with friends, grab a quick breakfast or settle in with a cup of coffee. The shop’s emphasis on community also extends to students and those working remotely, with free Wi-Fi, power outlets and USB ports available throughout the space.

And, of course, I couldn’t leave without trying the waffles behind the finish line incentive.

While I didn’t get the Waffle Charcuterie Board, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to eat the sweet, buttery waffles. I opted for the Farmers Market Skillet, a delightful medley of scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, bacon, sausage and colorful sautéed veggies, paired with two of the power grain waffles. The waffles added a sweet, rich contrast to the savory skillet, making both a satisfying and filling breakfast. I now understand why my friend was looking forward to them after crossing the finish line.

While the waffles may be what initially caught my attention, they are far from the only option on the menu. The Table also offers items such as its Waffle Breakfast Sandwich, Table’s Best Turkey and Woolworth Club, all of which incorporate its signature power grain waffles. For those looking for something lighter, the menu also includes seasonal salads and soups, along with homemade desserts.

For coffee lovers, the menu offers just as much variety. Along with its Tiramisu Cold Brew, The Table serves specialty drinks such as the Rosemary White Mocha and Cherry Choco-Latte. Its coffee is handcrafted and made to order, giving customers plenty of options whether they prefer their drink hot, iced, blended or flavored.

With midterm exams approaching and the long-awaited Fall Break just around the corner, Creighton students have plenty on their plates — literally and figuratively. As students enter another busy period of the semester, the usual study spots, such as the Reinert-Alumni Memorial Library or the Harper Center, may be overcrowded with students partaking in some last-minute cramming. With free Wi-Fi, power outlets and USB ports available, The Table offers a new space to work on assignments, study and enjoy a waffle or two. And with Creighton Days (family weekend) beginning today, The Table is a must-visit addition to your itinerary.

For students who are tired of studying in the same four walls, a change of scenery can make a busy week feel a little more manageable. There is something about stepping away from campus — even if it is only a few blocks — that can make studying feel less like a chore. Pairing an afternoon of work with a coffee and a waffle certainly doesn’t hurt, either.

The Table’s location also makes it an easy stop while exploring the Old Market. Whether you are grabbing breakfast before spending the day downtown, meeting a friend for coffee or looking for somewhere to take visiting family, its location makes it a convenient addition to a weekend in Omaha.

Whether you’re looking for a new favorite spot, or introducing your parents to the Old Market area, The Table is the perfect space to gather.
