Alpha Kappa Psi brings Creighton Alum to speak on personal success

As aspiring professionals, Creighton students are especially inclined to focus on ways to become successful and to develop as individuals. Creighton’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, the oldest and largest business fraternity, will be bringing Dan Harbeke of Union Pacific and author of Get In! How to Market Yourself and Become Successful at a Young Age, to speak on campus on Wednesday Feb. 20, 2013.

Everyone is encouraged to attend the event due to the broad topic of the lecture, which can apply to anyone no matter his/her field of study. Harbeke, a Creighton alumnus and past-president of Alpha Kappa Psi, will speak in the Harper Center auditorium at 1:30 p.m. on how to be successful through personal marketing and networking.

According to his website, Harbeke has joined the ranks of the Fortune 500 after getting his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Creighton. In his time here, he was active in student government and the crew team.

β€œAlpha Kappa Psi is hosting this event because we found it to be a great opportunity to host such a wonderful speaker and Creighton Alum here at Creighton, with a lot of wisdom and great advice for Creighton students to take away with them,” said Laura Johnson, member of Alpha Kappa Psi.

The lecture will be approximately one hour long, with a fifteen-minute question and answer period. This will give Creighton students a chance to interact with and speak to someone who has been in the same place and has gone on to achieve success. β€œUltimately I think this will be a really fun and exciting presentation, with a lot of valuable information to be taken away from it. Definitely worth everybody’s time,” added Johnson.

For their first campus wide speaker event in many years, Alpha Kappa Psi is hoping for a great turnout this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Harper Center auditorium by anyone who is looking for the keys to personal success.
